1. Te lucis ante términum,
1. Before the end of the day
Rerum Creátor póscimus,
Creator of the world, we pray
Ut solíta cleméntia
that with your desired favor,
Sis præsul ad custódiam.
you would be our protector and guard.
2. Procul recédant sómnia,
2. From all ill dreams defend our eyes,
Et nóctium phantásmata,
and the phantoms of night,
Hostémque nostrum cómprime,
and restrain our enemy,
Ne polluántur córpora.
that our bodies may not be polluted.
3. Glória tibi Dómine,
3. All glory be, o Lord,
Qui natus es de Vírgine,
virgin-born to you;
Cum Patre et Sancto Spíritu,
whom with the Father we adore,
In sempitérna sǽcula.
and Holy Ghost, for evermore.
