Allelúia, allelúia.
Alleluia, alleluia.
(Ps. 50) Miserére mei Deus,
(Ps. 50) Have mercy on me, O God,
secúndum magnam misericórdiam tuam.
according to thy great mercy.
2. Et secúndum multitúdinem miseratiónum tuárum,
2. In your abundant compassion
dele iniquitátem meam.
blot out my transgressions.
3. Amplius lava me ab iniquitáte mea:
3. Wash me even more from my iniquity,
et a peccáto meo munda me.
and cleanse me from my sin.
4. Quóniam iniquitátem meam ego cognósco:
4. My offenses truly I know them;
et peccatum meum contra me est semper.
my sin is always before me.
5. Tibi soli peccávi, et malum coram te feci:
5.Against you, you alone, have I sinned; what is evil in your sight I have done.
ut justificéris in sermónibus tuis, et vincas cum judicáris.
That you may be justified when you give sentence and be without reproach when you judge.
6. Ecce enim in iniquitátibus concéptus sum:
6. O see, in guilt I was born,
et in peccátis concépit me mater mea.
a sinner was I conceived.
7. Ecce enim veritátem dilexísti:
7. Indeed you love truth in the heart;
incérta et occúlta sapiéntiæ tuæ manifestásti mihi.
then in the secret of my heart teach me wisdom.
8. Aspérges me hyssópo, et mundábor:
8. O purify me, then I shall be clean;
lavábis me, et super nivem dealbábor.
O wash me, I shall be whiter than snow.
9. Audítui meo dabis gáudium et lætítiam:
9. Make me hear rejoicing and gladness,
et exsultábunt ossa humiliáta.
that the bones you have crushed may revive.
10. Avérte fáciem tuam a peccátis meis:
10. From my sins turn away your face
et omnes iniquitátes meas dele.
and blot out all my guilt.
11. Cor mundum crea in me, Deus:
11. A pure heart create for me, O God,
et spíritum rectum ínnova in viscéribus meis.
put a steadfast spirit within me.
12. Ne projícias me a fácie tua:
12. Do not cast me away from your presence,
et spíritum sanctum tuum ne áuferas a me.
nor deprive me of your holy spirit.
13. Redde mihi lætítiam salutáris tui:
13. Give me again the joy of your help;
et spíritu principáli confírma me.
with a spirit of fervor sustain me.
14. Docébo iníquos vias tuas:
14. that I may teach transgressors your ways
et ímpii ad te converténtur.
and sinners may return to you.
15. Líbera me de sanguínibus, Deus, Deus salútis meæ:
15. O rescue me, God, my helper,
et exsultábit lingua mea justítiam tuam.
and my tongue shall ring out your goodness.
16. Dómine, lábia mea apéries:
16. O Lord, open my lips
et os meum annuntiábit laudem tuam.
and my mouth shall declare your praise.
17. Quóniam si voluísses sacrifícium, dedíssem útique:
17. For in sacrifice you take no delight,
holocáustis non delectáberis.
burnt offering from me, you would refuse.
18. Sacrifícium Deo spíritus contribulátus:
18. My sacrifice, a contrite spirit,
cor contrítum et humiliátum, Deus, non despícies.
a humbled, contrite heart you will not spurn.
19. Benígne fac, Dómine, in bona voluntáte tua Sion:
19. In your goodness, show favor to Zion:
ut ædificéntur muri Jerúsalem.
rebuild the walls of Jerusalem.
20. Tunc acceptábis sacrifícium justítiæ, oblatiónes, et holocáusta:
20. Then you will delight in the sacrifices of the righteous, in burnt offerings offered whole;
tunc impónent super altáre tuum vítulos.
then bulls will be offered on your altar.
21. Glória Patri, et Fílio,
21. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
et Spirítui Sancto.
and to the Holy Spirit,
22. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper,
22. As it was in the beginning, is now,
et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
23. (Ps. 117) Confitémini Dómino quóniam bonus:
23. (Ps. 117) Confess to the Lord, for he is good,
quóniam in sǽculum misericórdia ejus.
for his mercy is forever.
24. Dicat nunc Israël quóniam bonus:
24. Let Israel now say:
quóniam in sǽculum misericórdia ejus.
For he is good, for his mercy is forever.
25. Dicat nunc domus Aaron:
25. Let the house of Aaron now say:
quóniam in sǽculum misericórdia ejus.
For his mercy is forever.
26. Dicant nunc qui timent Dóminum:
26. Let those who fear the Lord now say:
quóniam in sǽculum misericórdia ejus.
For his mercy is forever.
27. De tribulatióne invocávi Dóminum:
27. In my tribulation, I called upon the Lord.
et exaudívit me in latitúdine Dóminus.
And the Lord heeded me with generosity.
28. Dóminus mihi adjútor:
28 The Lord is my helper.
non timébo quid fáciat mihi homo.
I will not fear what man can do to me.
29. Dóminus mihi adjútor:
29. The Lord is my helper.
et ego despíciam inimícos meos.
And I will look down upon my enemies.
30. Bonum est confídere in Dómino:
30. It is good to trust in the Lord,
quam confídere in hómine.
rather than to trust in man.
31. Bonum est speráre in Dómino:
31. It is good to hope in the Lord,
quam speráre in princípibus.
rather than to hope in leaders.
32. Omnes Gentes circuiérunt me:
32. All the nations have surrounded me.
et in nómine Dómini quia ultus sum in eos.
And, in the name of the Lord, I have been avenged over them.
33. Circumdántes circumdedérunt me:
33. All the nations have surrounded me.
et in nómine Dómini quia ultus sum in eos.
And, in the name of the Lord, I have been avenged over them.
34. Circumdedérunt me sicut apes,
34. They surrounded me like a swarm,
et exarsérunt sicut ignis in spinis:
and they burned like fire among the thorns.
et in nómine Dómini quia ultus sum in eos.
And, in the name of the Lord, I have been avenged over them.
35. Impúlsus evérsus sum ut cáderem:
35. Having been pushed, I was overturned so as to fall.
et Dóminus suscépit me.
But the Lord took me up.
36. Fortitúdo mea, et laus mea Dóminus:
36. The Lord is my strength and my praise.
et factus est mihi in salútem.
And he has become my salvation.
37. Vox exsultatiónis, et salútis:
37. A voice of exultation and salvation
in tabernáculis justórum.
is in the tabernacles of the just.
38. Déxtera Dómini fecit virtútem:
38. The right hand of the Lord has wrought virtue.
déxtera Dómini exaltávit me,
The right hand of the Lord has exalted me.
déxtera Dómini fecit virtútem.
The right hand of the Lord has wrought virtue.
39. Non móriar, sed vivam:
39. I will not die, but I will live.
et narrábo ópera Dómini.
And I will declare the works of the Lord.
40. Castígans castigávit me Dóminus:
40. When chastising, the Lord chastised me.
et morti non trádidit me.
But he has not delivered me over to death.
41. Aperíte mihi portas justítiæ,
41. Open the gates of justice to me.
ingréssus in eas confitébor Dómino:
I will enter them, and I will confess to the Lord.
hæc porta Dómini, justi intrábunt in eam.
This is the gate of the Lord. The just will enter by it.
42. Confitébor tibi quóniam exaudísti me:
42. I will confess to you because you have heard me.
et factus es mihi in salútem.
And you have become my salvation.
43. Lápidem, quem reprobavérunt ædificántes:
43. The stone which the builders have rejected,
hic factus est in caput ánguli.
this has become the head of the corner.
44. A Dómino factum est istud:
44. By the Lord has this been done,
et est mirábile in óculis nostris.
and it is a wonder before our eyes.
45. Hæc est dies, quam fecit Dóminus:
45. This is the day that the Lord has made.
exsultémus et lætémur in ea.
Let us exult and rejoice in it.
46. O Dómine, salvum me fac,
46. O Lord, grant salvation to me.
O Dómine bene prosperáre:
O Lord, grant good prosperity.
benedíctus qui venit in nómine Dómini.
Blessed is he who arrives in the name of the Lord.
47. Benedíximus vobis de domo Dómini:
47. We have blessed you from the house of the Lord.
Deus Dóminus, et illúxit nobis.
The Lord is God, and he has enlightened us.
48. Constitúite diem solémnem in condénsis,
48. Establish a solemn day amid a dense crowd,
usque ad cornu altáris.
even to the horn of the altar.
49. Deus meus es tu, et confitébor tibi:
49. You are my God, and I will confess to you.
Deus meus es tu, et exaltábo te.
You are my God, and I will exalt you.
50. Confitébor tibi quóniam exaudísti me:
50. I will confess to you, for you have heeded me.
et factus es mihi in salútem.
And you have become my salvation.
51. Confitémini Dómino quóniam bonus:
51. Confess to the Lord, for he is good,
quóniam in sǽculum misericórdia ejus.
for his mercy is forever.
52. Glória Patri, et Fílio,
52. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
et Spirítui Sancto.
and to the Holy Spirit,
53. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper,
53. As it was in the beginning, is now,
et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
54. (Ps. 62) Deus, Deus meus,
54. (Ps. 62) O God, my God:
ad te de luce vígilo.
to you, I keep vigil until first light.
55. Sitívit in te ánima mea,
55. For you, my soul has thirsted,
quam multiplíciter tibi caro mea.
to you my body, in so many ways.
56. In terra desérta, et ínvia, et inaquósa:
56. By a deserted land, both inaccessible and waterless,
sic in sancto appárui tibi,
so I have appeared in the sanctuary before you,
ut vidérem virtútem tuam, et glóriam tuam.
in order to behold your virtue and your glory.
57. Quóniam mélior est misericórdia tua super vitas:
57. For your mercy is better than life itself.
lábia mea laudábunt te.
It is you my lips will praise.
58. Sic benedícam te in vita mea:
58. So will I bless you in my life,
et in nómine tuo levábo manus meas.
and I will lift up my hands in your name.
59. Sicut ádipe et pinguédine repleátur ánima mea:
59. Let my soul be filled, as if with marrow and fatness;
et lábiis exsultatiónis laudábit os meum.
and my mouth will give praise with exultant lips.
60. Si memor fui tui super stratum meum,
60. When I have remembered you on my bed
in matutínis meditábor in te:
in the morning, I will meditate on you.
quia fuísti adjútor meus.
For you have been my helper.
61. Et in velaménto alárum tuárum exsultábo,
61. And I will exult under the cover of your wings.
adhǽsit ánima mea post te:
My soul has clung close to you.
me suscépit déxtera tua.
Your right hand has supported me.
62. Ipsi vero in vanum quæsiérunt ánimam meam,
62. Truly, these ones have sought my soul in vain.
introíbunt in inferióra terræ:
They will enter into the lower parts of the earth.
tradéntur in manus gládii, partes vúlpium erunt.
They will be delivered into the hand of the sword. They will be the portions of foxes.
63. Rex vero lætábitur in Deo,
63. Truly, the king will rejoice in God:
laudabúntur omnes qui jurant in eo:
all those who swear by him will be praised,
quia obstrúctum est os loquéntium iníqua.
because the mouth of those who speak iniquity has been blocked.
64. Glória Patri, et Fílio,
64. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
et Spirítui Sancto.
and to the Holy Spirit,
65. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper,
65. As it was in the beginning, is now,
et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Allelúia, allelúia.
Alleluia, alleluia.
