Antiphona
Ecce apparébit Dóminus et non mentiétur;
Behold the Lord will appear, and will not deceive us:
si moram fécerit, exspécta eum,
if he tarry, expect him,
quia véniet et non tardábit, allelúia.
for he will come and will not delay, alleluia.
(Ps. 62) Deus, Deus meus,
(Ps. 62) O God, my God:
ad te de luce vígilo.
to you, I keep vigil until first light.
2. Sitívit in te ánima mea,
2. For you, my soul has thirsted,
quam multiplíciter tibi caro mea.
to you my body, in so many ways.
3. In terra desérta, et ínvia, et inaquósa:
3. By a deserted land, both inaccessible and waterless,
sic in sancto appárui tibi,
so I have appeared in the sanctuary before you,
ut vidérem virtútem tuam, et glóriam tuam.
in order to behold your virtue and your glory.
4. Quóniam mélior est misericórdia tua super vitas:
4. For your mercy is better than life itself.
lábia mea laudábunt te.
It is you my lips will praise.
5. Sic benedícam te in vita mea:
5. So will I bless you in my life,
et in nómine tuo levábo manus meas.
and I will lift up my hands in your name.
6. Sicut ádipe et pinguédine repleátur ánima mea:
6. Let my soul be filled, as if with marrow and fatness;
et lábiis exsultatiónis laudábit os meum.
and my mouth will give praise with exultant lips.
7. Si memor fui tui super stratum meum,
7. When I have remembered you on my bed
in matutínis meditábor in te:
in the morning, I will meditate on you.
quia fuísti adjútor meus.
For you have been my helper.
8. Et in velaménto alárum tuárum exsultábo,
8. And I will exult under the cover of your wings.
adhǽsit ánima mea post te:
My soul has clung close to you.
me suscépit déxtera tua.
Your right hand has supported me.
9. Ipsi vero in vanum quæsiérunt ánimam meam,
9. Truly, these ones have sought my soul in vain.
introíbunt in inferióra terræ:
They will enter into the lower parts of the earth.
tradéntur in manus gládii, partes vúlpium erunt.
They will be delivered into the hand of the sword. They will be the portions of foxes.
10. Rex vero lætábitur in Deo,
10. Truly, the king will rejoice in God:
laudabúntur omnes qui jurant in eo:
all those who swear by him will be praised,
quia obstrúctum est os loquéntium iníqua.
because the mouth of those who speak iniquity has been blocked.
11. Glória Patri, et Fílio,
11. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
et Spirítui Sancto.
and to the Holy Spirit,
12. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper,
12. As it was in the beginning, is now,
et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Ecce apparébit Dóminus et non mentiétur;
Behold the Lord will appear, and will not deceive us:
si moram fécerit, exspécta eum,
if he tarry, expect him,
quia véniet et non tardábit, allelúia.
for he will come and will not delay, alleluia.
