Intret orátio mea in conspéctu tuo Dómine.
Let my prayers come before you, oh Lord.
(Ps. 87) Dómine, Deus salútis meæ:
(Ps. 87) O Lord, God of my salvation:
in die clamávi, et nocte coram te.
I have cried out, day and night, in your presence.
2. Intret in conspéctu tuo orátio mea:
2. Let my prayer enter in your sight.
inclína aurem tuam ad precem meam:
Incline your ear to my petition.
3. Quia repléta est malis ánima mea:
3. For my soul has been filled with evils,
et vita mea inférno appropinquávit.
and my life has drawn near to Hell.
4. Æstimátus sum cum descendéntibus in lacum:
4. I am considered to be among those who will descend into the pit.
factus sum sicut homo sine adjutório, inter mórtuos liber.
I have become like a man without assistance,
5. Sicut vulneráti dormiéntes in sepúlcris,
5. I am like the wounded sleeping in sepulchers,
quorum non es memor ámplius:
whom you no longer remember,
et ipsi de manu tua repúlsi sunt.
and who have been repelled by your hand.
6. Posuérunt me in lacu inferióri:
6. They have lain me in the lower pit:
in tenebrósis, et in umbra mortis.
in dark places and in the shadow of death.
7. Super me confirmátus est furor tuus:
7. Your fury has been confirmed over me.
et omnes fluctus tuos induxísti super me.
And you have brought all your waves upon me.
8. Longe fecísti notos meos a me:
8. You have sent my acquaintances far from me.
posuérunt me abominatiónem sibi.
They have set me as an abomination to themselves.
9. Tráditus sum, et non egrediébar:
9. I was handed over, yet I did not depart.
óculi mei languérunt præ inópia.
My eyes languished before destitution.
10. Clamávi ad te, Dómine, tota die:
10. All day long, I cried out to you, O Lord.
expándi ad te manus meas.
I stretched out my hands to you.
11. Numquid mórtuis fácies mirabília:
11. Will you perform wonders for the dead?
aut médici suscitábunt, et confitebúntur tibi?
Or will physicians raise to life, and so confess to you?
12. Numquid narrábit áliquis in sepúlcro misericórdiam tuam,
12. Could anyone declare your mercy in the sepulcher,
et veritátem tuam in perditióne?
or your truth from within perdition?
13. Numquid cognoscéntur in ténebris mirabília tua,
13. Will your wonders be known in the darkness,
et justítia tua in terra obliviónis?
or your justice in the land of oblivion?
14. Et ego ad te, Dómine, clamávi:
14. And I have cried out to you, O Lord,
et mane orátio mea prævéniet te.
and in early morning, my prayer will come before you.
15. Ut quid, Dómine, repéllis oratiónem meam:
15. Lord, why do you reject my prayer?
avértis fáciem tuam a me?
Why do you turn your face away from me?
16. Pauper sum ego, et in labóribus a juventúte mea:
16. I am poor, and I have been amid hardships from my youth.
exaltátus autem, humiliátus sum et conturbátus.
And, though I have been exalted, I am humbled and disturbed.
17. In me transiérunt iræ tuæ:
17. Your wrath has crossed into me,
et terróres tui conturbavérunt me.
and your terrors have disturbed me.
18. Circumdedérunt me sicut aqua tota die:
18. They have surrounded me like water, all day long.
circumdedérunt me simul.
They have surrounded me, all at once.
19. Elongásti a me amícum et próximum:
19. Friend and neighbor, and my acquaintances, you have sent far away from me,
et notos meos a miséria.
away from misery.
20. Glória Patri, et Fílio,
20. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
et Spirítui Sancto.
and to the Holy Spirit,
21. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper,
21. As it was in the beginning, is now,
et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Intret orátio mea in conspéctu tuo Dómine.
Let my prayers come before you, oh Lord.
