Laudes - Hymnus

Hymnus
1. Jam, Christe, sol justítiæ,
1. Now, Christ, Sun of Justice,
Mentis diéscant ténebræ,
From our minds scatter all shadows
Virtútum ut lux rédeat,
That virtue’s light return
Terris diem cum réparas.
As to the earth You restore the day.
2. Dans tempus acceptábile,
2. Granting us an acceptable time,
Et pǽnitens cor tríbue:
A penitent heart bestow
Convértat ut benígnitas,
That kindness convert
Quos longa suffert píetas.
Those whom Your long suffering goodness endured.
3. Quiddámque pæniténtiæ
3. And some penance
Da ferre, quamvis grávium,
Grant us to bear, however severe,
Majóre tuo múnere,
That by Your greater grace
Quo démptio fit críminum.
Sins may be taken away.
4. Dies venit, dies tua,
4. The day comes, Your day,
In qua reflórent ómnia:
On which all things will re-flower.
Lætémur in hac ad tuam
Let us rejoice being led back
Per hanc redúcti grátiam.
Through it and on it to your grace.
5. Te rerum univérsitas,
5. You, may the universe of all things,
Clemens, adóret, Trínitas,
Adore, merciful Trinity.
Et nos novi per véniam
And may we renewed by your favor
Novum canámus cánticum.
A new song sing.
Amen.
Amen.
