Antiphona
Urbs fortitúdinis nostræ Sion,
Zion is the city of our strength,
Salvátor ponétur in ea murus
the Savior shall be its wall
et antemurále
and bulwark:
Aperíte portas, quia nobíscum Deus, allelúia.
open the gates, for God is with us, alleluia.
(Ps. 117) Confitémini Dómino quóniam bonus:
(Ps. 117) Confess to the Lord, for he is good,
quóniam in sǽculum misericórdia ejus.
for his mercy is forever.
2. Dicat nunc Israël quóniam bonus:
2. Let Israel now say:
quóniam in sǽculum misericórdia ejus.
For he is good, for his mercy is forever.
3. Dicat nunc domus Aaron:
3. Let the house of Aaron now say:
quóniam in sǽculum misericórdia ejus.
For his mercy is forever.
4. Dicant nunc qui timent Dóminum:
4. Let those who fear the Lord now say:
quóniam in sǽculum misericórdia ejus.
For his mercy is forever.
5. De tribulatióne invocávi Dóminum:
5. In my tribulation, I called upon the Lord.
et exaudívit me in latitúdine Dóminus.
And the Lord heeded me with generosity.
6. Dóminus mihi adjútor:
6. The Lord is my helper.
non timébo quid fáciat mihi homo.
I will not fear what man can do to me.
7. Dóminus mihi adjútor:
7. The Lord is my helper.
et ego despíciam inimícos meos.
And I will look down upon my enemies.
8. Bonum est confídere in Dómino:
8. It is good to trust in the Lord,
quam confídere in hómine.
rather than to trust in man.
9. Bonum est speráre in Dómino:
9. It is good to hope in the Lord,
quam speráre in princípibus.
rather than to hope in leaders.
10. Omnes Gentes circuiérunt me:
10. All the nations have surrounded me.
et in nómine Dómini quia ultus sum in eos.
And, in the name of the Lord, I have been avenged over them.
11. Circumdántes circumdedérunt me:
11. Surrounding me, they closed in on me.
et in nómine Dómini quia ultus sum in eos.
And, in the name of the Lord, I have been avenged over them.
12. Circumdedérunt me sicut apes,
12. They surrounded me like a swarm,
et exarsérunt sicut ignis in spinis:
and they burned like fire among the thorns.
et in nómine Dómini quia ultus sum in eos.
And, in the name of the Lord, I have been avenged over them.
13. Impúlsus evérsus sum ut cáderem:
13. Having been pushed, I was overturned so as to fall.
et Dóminus suscépit me.
But the Lord took me up.
14. Fortitúdo mea, et laus mea Dóminus:
14. The Lord is my strength and my praise.
et factus est mihi in salútem.
And he has become my salvation.
15. Vox exsultatiónis, et salútis:
15. A voice of exultation and salvation
in tabernáculis justórum.
is in the tabernacles of the just.
16. Déxtera Dómini fecit virtútem:
16. The right hand of the Lord has wrought virtue.
déxtera Dómini exaltávit me,
The right hand of the Lord has exalted me.
déxtera Dómini fecit virtútem.
The right hand of the Lord has wrought virtue.
17. Non móriar, sed vivam:
17. I will not die, but I will live.
et narrábo ópera Dómini.
And I will declare the works of the Lord.
18. Castígans castigávit me Dóminus:
18. When chastising, the Lord chastised me.
et morti non trádidit me.
But he has not delivered me over to death.
19. Aperíte mihi portas justítiæ,
19. Open the gates of justice to me.
ingréssus in eas confitébor Dómino:
I will enter them, and I will confess to the Lord.
hæc porta Dómini, justi intrábunt in eam.
This is the gate of the Lord. The just will enter by it.
20. Confitébor tibi quóniam exaudísti me:
20. I will confess to you because you have heard me.
et factus es mihi in salútem.
And you have become my salvation.
21. Lápidem, quem reprobavérunt ædificántes:
21. The stone which the builders have rejected,
hic factus est in caput ánguli.
this has become the head of the corner.
22. A Dómino factum est istud:
22. By the Lord has this been done,
et est mirábile in óculis nostris.
and it is a wonder before our eyes.
23. Hæc est dies, quam fecit Dóminus:
23. This is the day that the Lord has made.
exsultémus et lætémur in ea.
Let us exult and rejoice in it.
24. O Dómine, salvum me fac,
24. O Lord, grant salvation to me.
O Dómine bene prosperáre:
O Lord, grant good prosperity.
benedíctus qui venit in nómine Dómini.
Blessed is he who arrives in the name of the Lord.
25. Benedíximus vobis de domo Dómini:
25. We have blessed you from the house of the Lord.
Deus Dóminus, et illúxit nobis.
The Lord is God, and he has enlightened us.
26. Constitúite diem solémnem in condénsis,
26. Establish a solemn day amid a dense crowd,
usque ad cornu altáris.
even to the horn of the altar.
27. Deus meus es tu, et confitébor tibi:
27. You are my God, and I will confess to you.
Deus meus es tu, et exaltábo te.
You are my God, and I will exalt you.
28. Confitébor tibi quóniam exaudísti me:
28. I will confess to you, for you have heeded me.
et factus es mihi in salútem.
And you have become my salvation.
29. Confitémini Dómino quóniam bonus:
29. Confess to the Lord, for he is good,
quóniam in sǽculum misericórdia ejus.
for his mercy is forever.
30. Glória Patri, et Fílio,
30. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
et Spirítui Sancto.
and to the Holy Spirit,
31. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper,
31. As it was in the beginning, is now,
et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Urbs fortitúdinis nostræ Sion,

Salvátor ponétur in ea murus
the Savior shall be its wall
et antemurále
