Allelúia! Noli flere, María, allelúia:
Alleluia. Do not weep, Maria, alleluia:
resurréxit Dóminus, allelúia, allelúia.
the Lord is risen, alleluia, alleluia.
(Is. 63: 1-5) Quis est iste, qui venit de Edom,
(Is. 63: 1-5) Who is this, who arrives from Edom
tinctis véstibus de Bosra?
with dyed garments from Bozrah?
2. Iste formósus in stola sua,
2. This is the Handsome One in his robe,
grádiens in multitúdine fortitúdinis suæ?
advancing by the fullness of his strength.
3. Ego qui loquor justítiam,
3. It is I, the Speaker of Justice,
et propugnátor sum ad salvándum.
and I am the Fighter for Salvation.
4. Quare ergo rubrum est induméntum tuum,
4. So then, why is your garment red,
et vestiménta tua sicut calcántium in torculári?
and why are your vestments like the ones of those who tread the winepress?
5. Tórcular calcávi solus,
5. I have trod the winepress alone.
et de géntibus non est vir mecum:
And among the nations, there is no man beside me.
6. Calcávi eos in furóre meo,
6. I have trampled on them in my fury,
et conculcávi eos in ira mea:
and I have tread them down in my wrath.
7. Et aspérsus est sanguis eórum super vestimenta mea,
7. And so, their blood has been sprinkled on my vestments,
et ómnia induménta mea inquinávi.
and I have stained all my garments.
8. Dies enim ultiónis in corde meo;
8. For the day of vengeance is in my heart.
annus redemptiónis meæ venit.
The year of my redemption has arrived.
9. Circumspéxi, et non erat auxiliátor;
9. I gazed around, and there was no one to assist.
quæsívi, et non fuit qui adjuváret:
I sought, and there was no one who would help.
10. Et salvávit mihi bráchium meum,
10. And so, my own arm has saved for me,
et indignátio mea ipsa auxiliáta est mihi.
and my own wrath itself has assisted me.
11. Glória Patri, et Fílio,
11. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
et Spirítui Sancto.
and to the Holy Spirit,
12. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper,
12. As it was in the beginning, is now,
et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
13. (Os. 6: 1-6) Veníte, et revertámur ad Dóminum:
13. (Os. 6: 1-6) Come, let us return to the Lord.
quia ipse cepit, et sanábit nos;
For he has seized us, and he will heal us.
percútiet, et curábit nos.
He will strike, and he will cure us.
14. Vivificábit nos post duos dies;
14. He will revive us after two days;
in die tertia suscitábit nos,
on the third day he will raise us up,
et vivémus in conspéctu ejus.
and we will live in his sight.
15. Sciémus, sequemúrque,
15. We will understand, and we will continue on,
ut cognoscámus Dóminum:
so that we may know the Lord.
16. Quasi dilúculum præparátus est egréssus ejus,
16. His landing place has been prepared like the first light of morning,
et véniet quasi imber nobis temporáneus et serótinus terræ.
and he will come to us like the early and the late rains of the land.
17. Quid faciam tibi, Ephraim? quid faciam tibi, Juda?
17. What am I to do with you, Ephraim? What am I to do with you, Judah?
misericórdia vestra quasi nubes matutína,
Your mercy is like the morning mist,
et quasi ros mane pertránsiens.
and like the dew passing away in the morning.
18. Propter hoc dolávi in prophétis,
18. Because of this, I have cut them with the prophets,
occídi eos in verbis oris mei:
I have slain them with the words of my mouth;
et judicia tua quasi lux egrediéntur.
and your opinions will depart like the light.
19. Quia misericórdiam vólui, et non sacrificium,
19. For I desired mercy and not sacrifice,
et sciéntiam Dei plus quam holocáusta.
and knowledge of God more than holocausts.
20. Glória Patri, et Fílio,
20. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
et Spirítui Sancto.
and to the Holy Spirit,
21. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper,
21. As it was in the beginning, is now,
et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
22. (So. 3: 8-13) Exspécta me, dicit Dóminus, in die resurrectiónis meæ in futúrum:
22. (Zeph. 3: 8-13) Expect me, says the Lord, in the day of my resurrection in the future,
quia judícium meum ut cóngregem Gentes, et cólligam regna:
for my judgment is to gather together the Gentiles, and to collect the kingdoms,
23. Et effúndam super eos indignatiónem meam,
23. and to pour out over them my indignation,
omnem iram furóris mei:
all the fury of my anger.
24. In igne enim zeli mei
24. For by the fire of my zeal,
devorábitur omnis terra.
all the earth will be devoured.
25. Quia tunc reddam pópulis lábium eléctum,
25. For then I will restore to the people a chosen lip,
ut ínvocent omnes in nómine Dómini,
so that all may invoke the name of the Lord
et sérviant ei húmero uno.
and may serve him with one shoulder.
26. Ultra flúmina Æthiópiæ, inde súpplices mei;
26. From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia, my supplicants,
fílii dispersórum meórum déferent munus mihi.
the sons of my diaspora, will carry a gift to me.
27. In die illa non confundéris super cunctis adinventiónibus tuis,
27. In that day, you will not be ashamed over all of your inventions,
quibus prævaricáta es in me:
by which you have transgressed against me.
28. Quia tunc áuferam de médio tui magníloquos supérbiæ tuæ,
28. For then I will take away from your midst your arrogant boasters,
et non adjícies exaltári ámplius in monte sancto meo.
and you will no longer be exalted on my holy mountain.
29. Et derelínquam in médio tui pópulum páuperem et egénum:
29. And I will bequeath into your midst a poor and needy people,
et sperábunt in nómine Dómini.
and they will hope in the name of the Lord.
30. Relíquiæ Israël non fácient iniquitátem,
30. The remnant of Israel will not do iniquity,
nec loquéntur mendácium,
nor speak lies,
et non inveniétur in ore eórum lingua dolosa:
and a deceitful tongue will not be found in their mouth.
31. Quóniam ipsi pascéntur, et accubábunt,
31. For they will pasture and will recline,
et non erit qui extérreat.
and there will be no one to strike them with terror.
32. Glória Patri, et Fílio,
32. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
et Spirítui Sancto.
and to the Holy Spirit,
33. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper,
33. As it was in the beginning, is now,
et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Allelúia! Noli flere, María, allelúia:
Alleluia. Do not weep, Maria, alleluia:
resurréxit Dóminus, allelúia, allelúia.
the Lord is risen, alleluia, alleluia.
