Per arma justítiæ virtútis Dei,
Armed with the justice which is the power of God,
commendémus nosmetípsos in multa patiéntia.
let us prove ourselves with great patience.
(Ps. 125) In converténdo Dóminus captivitátem Sion:
(Ps. 125) When the Lord turned back the captivity of Zion,
facti sumus sicut consoláti:
we became like those who are consoled.
2. Tunc replétum est gáudio os nostrum:
2. Then our mouth was filled with gladness
et lingua nostra exsultatióne.
and our tongue with exultation.
3. Tunc dicent inter Gentes:
3. Then they will say among the nations:
Magnificávit Dóminus fácere cum eis.
The Lord has done great things for them.
4. Magnificávit Dóminus fácere nobíscum:
4. The Lord has done great things for us.
facti sumus lætántes.
We have become joyful.
5. Convérte, Dómine, captivitátem nostram,
5. Convert our captivity, O Lord,
sicut torrens in austro.
like a torrent in the south.
6. Qui séminant in lácrimis,
6. Those who sow in tears
in exsultatióne metent.
shall reap in exultation.
7. Eúntes ibant et flebant,
7. When departing, they went forth
mitténtes sémina sua.
and wept, sowing their seeds.
8. Veniéntes autem vénient cum exsultatióne,
8. But when returning, they will arrive with exultation,
portántes manípulos suos.
carrying their sheaves.
9. Glória Patri, et Fílio,
9. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
et Spirítui Sancto.
and to the Holy Spirit,
10. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper,
10. As it was in the beginning, is now,
et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
11. (Ps. 126) Nisi Dóminus ædificáverit domum,
11. (Ps. 126) Unless the Lord has built the house,
in vanum laboravérunt qui ædíficant eam.
those who build it have labored in vain.
12. Nisi Dóminus custodíerit civitátem,
12. Unless the Lord has guarded the city,
frustra vígilat qui custódit eam.
he who guards it watches in vain.
13. Vanum est vobis ante lucem súrgere:
13. It is in vain that you rise before daylight,
súrgite postquam sedéritis, qui manducátis panem dolóris.
that you rise up after you have sat down, you who chew the bread of sorrow.
14. Cum déderit diléctis suis somnum:
14. Whereas, to his beloved, he will give sleep.
ecce heréditas Dómini fílii: merces, fructus ventris.
Behold, the inheritance of the Lord is sons, the reward is the fruit of the womb.
15. Sicut sagíttæ in manu poténtis:
15. Like arrows in the hand of the powerful,
ita fílii excussórum.
so are the sons of those who have been cast out.
16. Beátus vir qui implévit desidérium suum ex ipsis:
16. Blessed is the man who has filled his desire from these things.
non confundétur cum loquétur inimícis suis in porta.
He will not be confounded when he speaks to his enemies at the gate.
17. Glória Patri, et Fílio,
17. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
et Spirítui Sancto.
and to the Holy Spirit,
18. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper,
18. As it was in the beginning, is now,
et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
19. (Ps. 127) Beáti omnes, qui timent Dóminum,
19. (Ps. 127) A Canticle in steps. Blessed are all those who fear the Lord,
qui ámbulant in viis ejus.
who walk in his ways.
20. Labóres mánuum tuárum quia manducábis:
20. For you will eat by the labors of your hands.
beátus es, et bene tibi erit.
Blessed are you, and it will be well with you.
21. Uxor tua sicut vitis abúndans:
21. Your wife is like an abundant vine
in latéribus domus tuæ.
on the sides of your house.
22. Fílii tui sicut novéllæ olivárum:
22. Your sons are like young olive trees
in circúitu mensæ tuæ.
surrounding your table.
23. Ecce sic benedicétur homo,
23. Behold, so will the man be blessed
qui timet Dóminum.
who fears the Lord.
24. Benedícat tibi Dóminus ex Sion:
24. May the Lord bless you from Zion,
et vídeas bona Jerúsalem ómnibus diébus vitæ tuæ.
and may you see the good things of Jerusalem, all the days of your life.
25. Et vídeas fílios filiórum tuórum:
25. And may you see the sons of your sons.
pacem super Israël.
Peace be upon Israel.
26. Glória Patri, et Fílio,
26. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
et Spirítui Sancto.
and to the Holy Spirit,
27. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper,
27. As it was in the beginning, is now,
et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
