Antiphona
Grátia Dei in me vácua non fuit:
The grace of God which was bestowed upon me was not in vain,
sed grátia ejus semper in me manet.
but His grace abides ever in me.
(Ps. 118, 105-128) Lucérna pédibus meis verbum tuum,
(Ps. 118, 105-128) Your word is a lamp to my feet
et lumen sémitis meis.
and a light to my paths.
2. Jurávi, et státui
2. I have sworn it, and so I am determined
custodíre judícia justítiæ tuæ.
to keep the judgments of your justice.
3. Humiliátus sum usquequáque, Dómine:
3. I have been altogether humbled, Lord.
vivífica me secúndum verbum tuum.
Revive me according to your word.
4. Voluntária oris mei beneplácita fac, Dómine:
4. Make the willing offerings of my mouth well pleasing, Lord,
et judícia tua doce me.
and teach me your judgments.
5. Anima mea in mánibus meis semper:
5. My soul is always in my hands,
et legem tuam non sum oblítus.
and I have not forgotten your law.
6. Posuérunt peccatóres láqueum mihi:
6. Sinners have set a snare for me,
et de mandátis tuis non errávi.
yet I have not strayed from your commandments.
7. Hereditáte acquisívi testimónia tua in ætérnum:
7. I have acquired your testimonies as an inheritance unto eternity,
quia exsultátio cordis mei sunt.
because they are the exultation of my heart.
8. Inclinávi cor meum ad faciéndas justificatiónes tuas in ætérnum,
8. I have inclined my heart to do your justifications for eternity,
propter retributiónem.
as a recompense.
9. Glória Patri, et Fílio,
9. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
et Spirítui Sancto.
and to the Holy Spirit,
10. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper,
10. As it was in the beginning, is now,
et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
11. Iníquos ódio hábui:
11. I have hated the iniquitous,
et legem tuam diléxi.
and I have loved your law.
12. Adjútor et suscéptor meus es tu:
12.You are my helper and my supporter.
et in verbum tuum supersperávi.
And in your word, I have greatly hoped.
13. Declináte a me, malígni:
13. Turn away from me, you malignant ones.
et scrutábor mandáta Dei mei.
And I will examine the commandments of my God.
14. Súscipe me secúndum elóquium tuum, et vivam:
14. Uphold me according to your eloquence, and I will live.
et non confúndas me ab exspectatióne mea.
And let me not be confounded in my expectation.
15. Adjuva me, et salvus ero:
15. Help me, and I will be saved.
et meditábor in justificatiónibus tuis semper.
And I will meditate always on your justifications.
16. Sprevísti omnes discedéntes a judíciis tuis:
16. You have despised all those who fell away from your judgments.
quia injústa cogitátio eórum.
For their intention is unjust.
17. Prævaricántes reputávi omnes peccatóres terræ:
17. I have considered all the sinners of the earth to be transgressors.
ídeo diléxi testimónia tua.
Therefore, I have loved your testimonies.
18. Confíge timóre tuo carnes meas:
18. Pierce my flesh with your fear,
a judíciis enim tuis tímui.
for I am afraid of your judgments.
19. Glória Patri, et Fílio,
19. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
et Spirítui Sancto.
and to the Holy Spirit,
20. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper,
20. As it was in the beginning, is now,
et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
21. Feci judícium et justítiam:
21. I have accomplished judgment and justice.
non tradas me calumniántibus me.
Do not hand me over to those who slander me.
22. Súscipe servum tuum in bonum:
22. Uphold your servant in what is good.
non calumniéntur me supérbi.
And do not allow the arrogant to slander me.
23. Oculi mei defecérunt in salutáre tuum:
23. My eyes have failed in your salvation
et in elóquium justítiæ tuæ.
and in the eloquence of your justice.
24. Fac cum servo tuo secúndum misericórdiam tuam:
24. Deal with your servant according to your mercy,
et justificatiónes tuas doce me.
and teach me your justifications.
25. Servus tuus sum ego:
25. I am your servant.
da mihi intelléctum, ut sciam testimónia tua.
Give me understanding, so that I may know your testimonies.
26. Tempus faciéndi, Dómine:
26. It is time to act, O Lord.
dissipavérunt legem tuam.
They have dissipated your law.
27. Ideo diléxi mandáta tua,
27. Therefore, I have loved your commandments
super aurum et topázion.
beyond gold and topaz.
28. Proptérea ad ómnia mandáta tua dirigébar:
28. Because of this, I was directed toward all your commandments.
omnem viam iníquam ódio hábui.
I held hatred for every iniquitous way.
29. Glória Patri, et Fílio,
29. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
et Spirítui Sancto.
and to the Holy Spirit,
