Ideo jurejurándo fecit illum Dóminus
The Lord assured him by an oath that He
créscere in plebem suam.
would multiply his seed among His people.
(Ps. 9) Confitébor tibi, Dómine, in toto corde meo:
(Ps. 9) I will confess to you, Lord, with my whole heart.
narrábo ómnia mirabília tua.
I will recount all your wonders.
2. Lætábor et exsultábo in te:
2. I will rejoice and exult in you.
psallam nómini tuo, Altíssime.
I will sing a psalm to your name, O Most High.
3. In converténdo inimícum meum retrórsum:
3. For my enemy will be turned back.
infirmabúntur, et períbunt a fácie tua.
They will be weakened and perish before your face.
4. Quóniam fecísti judícium meum et causam meam:
4. For you have accomplished my judgment and my cause.
sedísti super thronum, qui júdicas justítiam.
You have sat upon the throne that judges justice.
5. Increpásti Gentes, et périit ímpius:
5. You have rebuked the Gentiles, and the impious one has perished.
nomen eórum delésti in ætérnum, et in sǽculum sǽculi.
You have deleted their name in eternity and for all generations.
6. Inimíci defecérunt frámeæ in finem:
6. The spears of the enemy have failed in the end,
et civitátes eórum destruxísti.
and their cities, you have destroyed.
7. Glória Patri, et Fílio,
7. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
et Spirítui Sancto.
and to the Holy Spirit,
8. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper,
8. As it was in the beginning, is now,
et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
9. Périit memória eórum cum sónitu:
9. Their memory has perished with a loud noise.
et Dóminus in ætérnum pérmanet.
But the Lord remains in eternity.
10. Parávit in judício thronum suum:
10. He has prepared his throne in judgment.
et ipse judicábit orbem terræ in æquitáte,
And he will judge the whole world in equity.
judicábit pópulos in justítia.
He will judge the people in justice.
11. Et factus est Dóminus refúgium páuperi:
11. And the Lord has become a refuge for the poor,
adjútor in opportunitátibus, in tribulatióne.
a helper in opportunity, in tribulation.
12. Et sperent in te qui novérunt nomen tuum:
12. And may they hope in you, who know your name.
quóniam non dereliquísti quæréntes te, Dómine.
For you have not abandoned those seeking you, Lord.
13. Psállite Dómino, qui hábitat in Sion:
13. Sing a psalm to the Lord, who dwells in Zion.
annuntiáte inter Gentes stúdia ejus:
Announce his study among the Gentiles.
14. Quóniam requírens sánguinem eórum recordátus est:
14. Because of those who yearned for their blood, he has remembered them.
non est oblítus clamórem páuperum.
He has not forgotten the cry of the poor.
15. Glória Patri, et Fílio,
15. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
et Spirítui Sancto.
and to the Holy Spirit,
16. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper,
16. As it was in the beginning, is now,
et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
17. Miserére mei, Dómine:
17. Have mercy on me, Lord.
vide humilitátem meam de inimícis meis.
See my humiliation from my enemies.
18. Qui exáltas me de portis mortis,
18. You lift me up from the gates of death,
ut annúntiem omnes laudatiónes tuas in portis fíliæ Sion.
so that I may announce all your praises at the gates of the daughter of Zion.
19. Exsultábo in salutári tuo:
19. I will exult in your salvation.
infíxæ sunt Gentes in intéritu, quem fecérunt.
The Gentiles have become trapped in the ruin that they made.
20. In láqueo isto, quem abscondérunt,
20. In the same snare that they themselves had hidden,
comprehénsus est pes eórum.
their foot has been caught.
21. Cognoscétur Dóminus judícia fáciens:
21. The Lord will be recognized when making judgments.
in opéribus mánuum suárum comprehénsus est peccátor.
The sinner has been caught in the works of his own hands.
22. Convertántur peccatóres in inférnum,
22. The sinners will be turned into Hell:
omnes Gentes quæ obliviscúntur Deum.
all the Gentiles who have forgotten God.
23. Quóniam non in finem oblívio erit páuperis:
23. For the poor will not be forgotten in the end.
patiéntia páuperum non períbit in finem.
The patience of the poor will not perish in the end.
24. Exsúrge, Dómine, non confortétur homo:
24. Rise up, Lord: do not let man be strengthened.
judicéntur Gentes in conspéctu tuo.
Let the Gentiles be judged in your sight.
25. Constítue, Dómine, legislatórem super eos:
25. O Lord, establish a lawgiver over them,
ut sciant Gentes quóniam hómines sunt.
so that the Gentiles may know that they are only men.
26. Glória Patri, et Fílio,
26. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
et Spirítui Sancto.
and to the Holy Spirit,
27. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper,
27. As it was in the beginning, is now,
et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Ideo jurejurándo fecit illum Dóminus
The Lord assured him by an oath that He
créscere in plebem suam.
would multiply his seed among His people.
