1. Rector potens, verax Deus,
1. Powerful Ruler, true God,
Qui témperas rerum vices,
who arranges the successive changes of things,
Splendóre mane ínstruis
illuminating the morning with splendor,
Et ígnibus merídiem.
and noon with fiery heat.
2. Exstíngue flammas lítium,
2. Extinguish the flames of strife,
Aufer calórem nóxium,
bear away the heat of harmful passions,
Confer salútem córporum,
give health of body
Verámque pacem córdium.
and true peace of hearts.
3. Glória tibi Dómine,
3. All glory be, o Lord,
Qui natus es de Vírgine,
virgin-born to you;
Cum Patre et Sancto Spíritu,
whom with the Father we adore,
In sempitérna sǽcula.
and Holy Ghost, for evermore.
