Antiphona
(Ps. 143) Benedíctus Dóminus Deus meus, qui docet manus meas ad prǽlium,
(Ps. 143) Blessed is the Lord, my God, who trains my hands for the battle
et dígitos meos ad bellum.
and my fingers for the war.
2. Misericórdia mea, et refúgium meum:
2. My mercy and my refuge,
suscéptor meus, et liberátor meus:
my supporter and my deliverer.
3. Protéctor meus, et in ipso sperávi:
3. My protector and him in whom I have hoped:
qui subdit pópulum meum sub me.
he subdues my people under me.
4. Dómine, quid est homo quia innotuísti ei?
4. O Lord, what is man that you have become known to him?
aut fílius hóminis, quia réputas eum?
Or the son of man that you consider him?
5. Homo vanitáti símilis factus est:
5. Man has been made similar to vanity.
dies ejus sicut umbra prætéreunt.
His days pass by like a shadow.
6. Dómine, inclína cælos tuos, et descénde:
6. O Lord, incline your heavens and descend.
tange montes, et fumigábunt.
Touch the mountains, and they will smoke.
7. Fúlgura coruscatiónem, et dissipábis eos:
7. Send a flash of lightning, and you will scatter them.
emítte sagíttas tuas, et conturbábis eos.
Shoot your arrows, and you will set them in disarray.
8. Emítte manum tuam de alto,
8. Send forth your hand from on high:
éripe me, et líbera me de aquis multis:
rescue me, and free me from many waters,
de manu filiórum alienórum.
from the hand of the sons of foreigners.
9. Quorum os locútum est vanitátem:
9. Their mouth has been speaking vain things,
et déxtera eórum, déxtera iniquitátis.
and their right hand is the right hand of iniquity.
10. Glória Patri, et Fílio,
10. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
et Spirítui Sancto.
and to the Holy Spirit,
11. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper,
11. As it was in the beginning, is now,
et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
12. Deus, cánticum novum cantábo tibi:
12. To you, O God, I will sing a new song.
in psaltério, decachórdo psallam tibi.
On the psaltery, with an instrument of ten strings, I will sing psalms to you.
13. Qui das salútem régibus:
13. He gives salvation to kings.
qui redemísti David, servum tuum, de gládio malígno: éripe me.
He has redeemed your servant David from the malignant sword. Rescue me.
14. Et érue me de manu filiórum alienórum,
14. And deliver me from the hand of the sons of foreigners.
quorum os locútum est vanitátem:
Their mouth has been speaking vain things,
et déxtera eórum, déxtera iniquitátis.
and their right hand is the right hand of iniquity.
15. Quorum fílii, sicut novéllæ plantatiónes
15. Their sons are like new plantings
in juventúte sua.
in their youth.
16. Fíliæ eórum compósitæ:
16. Their daughters are dressed up:
circumornátæ ut similitúdo templi.
adorned all around like the idols of a temple.
17. Promptuária eórum plena:
17. Their cupboards are full:
eructántia ex hoc in illud.
overflowing from one thing into another.
18. Oves eórum fœtósæ, abundántes in egréssibus suis:
18. Their sheep bear young, brought forth in abundance.
boves eórum crassæ.
Their cattle are fat.
19. Non est ruína macériæ, neque tránsitus:
19. There is no ruined wall or passage,
neque clamor in platéis eórum.
nor anyone crying out in their streets.
20. Beátum dixérunt pópulum, cui hæc sunt:
20. They have called the people that has these things: blessed.
beátus pópulus, cujus Dóminus Deus ejus.
But blessed is the people whose God is the Lord.
21. Glória Patri, et Fílio,
21. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
et Spirítui Sancto.
and to the Holy Spirit,
22. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper,
22. As it was in the beginning, is now,
et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Benedíctus Dóminus Deus meus.
Blessed is the Lord, my God.
