Antiphona
Confortátus est principátus eórum,
et honoráti sunt amíci tui Deus.
(Ps. 138) Dómine, probásti me, et cognovísti me:
tu cognovísti sessiónem meam, et resurrectiónem meam.
2. Intellexísti cogitatiónes meas de longe:
sémitam meam, et funículum meum investigásti.
3. Et omnes vias meas prævidísti:
quia non est sermo in lingua mea.
4. Ecce, Dómine, tu cognovísti ómnia novíssima, et antíqua:
tu formásti me, et posuísti super me manum tuam.
5. Mirábilis facta est sciéntia tua ex me:
confortáta est, et non pótero ad eam.
6. Quo ibo a spíritu tuo?
et quo a fácie tua fúgiam?
7. Si ascéndero in cælum, tu illic es:
si descéndero in inférnum, ades.
8. Si súmpsero pennas meas dilúculo,
et habitávero in extrémis maris.
9. Etenim illuc manus tua dedúcet me:
et tenébit me déxtera tua.
10. Glória Patri, et Fílio,
et Spirítui Sancto.
11. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper,
et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
12. Et dixi: Fórsitan ténebræ conculcábunt me:
et nox illuminátio mea in delíciis meis.
13. Quia ténebræ non obscurabúntur a te,
et nox sicut dies illuminábitur:
sicut ténebræ ejus, ita et lumen ejus.
14. Quia tu possedísti renes meos:
suscepísti me de útero matris meæ.
15. Confitébor tibi quia terribíliter magnificátus es:
mirabília ópera tua,
et ánima mea cognóscit nimis.
16. Non est occultátum os meum a te, quod fecísti in occúlto:
et substántia mea in inferióribus terræ.
17. Imperféctum meum vidérunt óculi tui,
et in libro tuo omnes scribéntur:
dies formabúntur, et nemo in eis.
18. Mihi autem nimis honorificáti sunt amíci tui, Deus:
nimis confortátus est principátus eórum.
19. Dinumerábo eos, et super arénam multiplicabúntur:
exsurréxi, et adhuc sum tecum.
20. Si occíderis, Deus, peccatóres:
viri sánguinum, declináte a me.
21. Quia dícitis in cogitatióne:
Accípient in vanitáte civitátes tuas.
22. Nonne qui odérunt te, Dómine, óderam?
et super inimícos tuos tabescébam?
23. Perfécto ódio óderam illos:
et inimíci facti sunt mihi.
24. Proba me, Deus, et scito cor meum:
intérroga me, et cognósce sémitas meas.
25. Et vide, si via iniquitátis in me est:
et deduc me in via ætérna.
26. Glória Patri, et Fílio,
et Spirítui Sancto.
27. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper,
et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.

O God, thy friends are honourable,
their power is waxen right strong.
(Ps. 138) Lord, you have examined me, and you have known me.
You have known my sitting down and my rising up again.
2. You have understood my thoughts from afar.
My path and my fate, you have investigated.
3. And you have foreseen all my ways.
For there is no word in my tongue.
4. Behold, O Lord, you have known all things: the newest and the very old.
You have formed me, and you have placed your hand over me.
5. Your knowledge has become a wonder to me.
It has been reinforced, and I am not able to prevail against it.
6. Where will I go from your Spirit?
And where will I flee from your face?
7. If I ascend into heaven, you are there.
If I descend into Hell, you are near.
8. If I assume my feathers in early morning,
and dwell in the utmost parts of the sea,
9. even there, your hand will lead me forth,
and your right hand will hold me.
10. Glória Patri, et Fílio,

11. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper,
et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
12. And I said: Perhaps darkness will overwhelm me,
and the night will be my illumination, to my delight.
13. But darkness will not be impenetrable to you,
and night will illuminate like the day:
for just as its darkness is, so also is its light.
14. For you have possessed my temperament.
You have supported me from the womb of my mother.
15. I will confess to you, for you have been magnified terribly.
Your works are miraculous,
as my soul knows exceedingly well.
16. My bone, which you have made in secret, has not been hidden from you,
and my substance is in accord with the lower parts of the earth.
17. Your eyes saw my imperfection,
and all this shall be written in your book.
Days will be formed, and no one shall be in them.
18. But to me, O God, your friends have been greatly honored.
Their first ruler has been exceedingly strengthened.
19. I will number them, and they will be more numerous than the sand.
I rose up, and I am still with you.
20. O God, if only you would cut down sinners.
You men of blood: depart from me.
21. For you say in thought:
They will accept your cities in vain.
22. Have I not hated those who hated you, Lord,
and wasted away because of your enemies?
23. I have hated them with a perfect hatred,
and they have become enemies to me.
24. Examine me, O God, and know my heart.
Question me, and know my paths.
25. And see if there might be in me the way of iniquity,
and lead me in the way of eternity.
26. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit,
27. As it was in the beginning, is now,
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
O God, thy friends are honourable,

Su autoridad ha sido plenamente confirmada,
tus amigos son colmados de honores.
(Sal. 138) Señor, Tú me sondeas y me conoces;
me conoces cuando me siento o me levanto,
2. De lejos penetras mis pensamientos;
distingues mi camino y mi descanso,
3. Todas mis sendas te son familiares.
No ha llegado la palabra a mi lengua,
4. y ya, Señor, te la sabes toda. Me estrechas detrás y delante,
me cubres con tu palma.
5. Tanto saber me sobrepasa,
es alto y no puede alcanzarlo.
6. ¿A dónde puedo ir de tu espíritu? Y cuando lejos de tu cara?
es sublime, y no lo abarco.
7. Si escalo el cielo, allí estás Tú;
si me acuesto en el abismo, allí te encuentro;
8. Si vuelo hasta el margen de la aurora,
si emigro hasta el confín del mar,
9. Allí me alcanzará tu izquierda,
me agarrará tu derecha.

11. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper,

12. Si digo: «Que al menos la tiniebla me encubra,
que la luz se haga noche en torno a mí»,
13. Ni la tiniebla es oscura para ti,
la noche es clara
como el día.
14. Tú has creado mis entrañas,
me has tejido en el seno materno.
15. Te doy gracias, porque me has escogido portentosamente,
porque son admirables tus obras;
conocías hasta el fondo de mi alma.
16. No desconocías mis huesos. Cuando en lo oculto me iba formando,
y entretejiendo en lo profundo de la tierra,
17. Tus ojos veían mis acciones,
e escribían todas en tu libro;
calculados estaban mis días antes que llegase el primero.
18. ¡Qué incomparables encuentro tus designios, Dios mío,
qué inmenso es su conjunto!
19. Si me pongo a contarlos, son más que arena;
si los doy por terminados, aún me quedas Tú.
20. Dios mío, ¡si matases al malvado,
si se apartasen de mí los asesinos.
21. Que hablan de ti pérfidamente,
se rebelan en vano contra ti!
22. ¿No aborreceré a los que te aborrecen,
no me repugnarán los que se te rebelan?
23. Los odio con odio implacable,
los tengo por enemigos.
24. Señor, sondéame y conoce mi corazón,
ponme a prueba y conoce mis sentimientos,
25. mira si mi camino se desvía,
guíame por el camino eterno.
26. Gloria al Padre, y al Hijo,
y al Espíritu Santo.
27. Como era en el principio, y ahora y siempre,
por los siglos de los siglos. Amén.

Tu sais quand je m'assois, quand je me lève
2. De très loin, tu pénètres mes pensées.
Que je marche ou me repose, tu le vois,
3. tous mes chemins te sont familiers.
Avant qu'un mot ne parvienne à mes lèvres,
4. déjà, Seigneur, tu le sais.
Tu me devances et me poursuis, tu m'enserres, tu as mis la main sur moi.
5. Savoir prodigieux qui me dépasse,
hauteur que je ne puis atteindre !
6. Où donc aller, loin de ton souffle ?
Où m'enfuir, loin de ta face ?
7. Je gravis les cieux : tu es là ;
je descends chez les morts : te voici.
8. Je prends les ailes de l'aurore
et me pose au-delà des mers :
9. même là, ta main me conduit,
ta main droite me saisit.

12. J'avais dit : « Les ténèbres m'écrasent ! »
mais la nuit devient lumière autour de moi.
13. Même la ténèbre pour toi n'est pas ténèbres,
et la nuit est aussi claire que le jour;
car pour toi, les ténèbres sont comme la lumière.
14. C'est toi qui as créé mes reins,
qui m'as tissé dans le sein de ma mère.
15. Je reconnais devant toi le prodige,
l'être étonnant que je suis :
étonnantes sont tes œuvres toute mon âme le sait.
16. Mes os n'étaient pas cachés pour toi quand j'étais façonné dans le secret,
modelé aux entrailles de la terre.
17. J'étais encore inachevé, tu me voyais ;
sur ton livre, tous mes jours étaient inscrits,
recensés avant qu'un seul ne soit !
18. Que tes pensées sont pour moi difficiles,
Dieu, que leur somme est imposante !
19. Je les compte : plus nombreuses que le sable !
Je m'éveille : je suis encore avec toi.
20. Dieu, si tu exterminais l'impie !
Hommes de sang, éloignez-vous de moi !
21. Tes adversaires profanent ton nom :
ils le prononcent pour détruire.
22. Comment ne pas haïr tes ennemis, Seigneur ?
ne pas avoir en dégoût tes assaillants ?
23. Je les hais d'une haine parfaite,
je les tiens pour mes propres ennemis.
24. Scrute-moi, mon Dieu, tu sauras ma pensée éprouve-moi,
tu connaîtras mon coeur.
25. Vois si je prends le chemin des idoles,
et conduis-moi sur le chemin d'éternité.
26. Gloire soit au Père, et au Fils,
et au Saint-Esprit,
27. Comme il était au commencement, maintenant et toujours
et pour les siècles des siècles. Amen.

Veramente forte è diventato il loro principato,
e sono sommamente onorati i tuoi amici, o Dio.
(Sal. 138) Signore, tu mi scruti e mi conosci,
tu sai quando seggo e quando mi alzo.
2. Penetri da lontano i miei pensieri,
mi scruti quando cammino e quando riposo.
3. Ti sono note tutte le mie vie;
la mia parola non è ancora sulla lingua
4. e tu, Signore, gia la conosci tutta.
Alle spalle e di fronte mi circondi e poni su di me la tua mano.
5. Stupenda per me la tua saggezza,
troppo alta, e io non la comprendo.
6. Dove andare lontano dal tuo spirito,
dove fuggire dalla tua presenza?
7. Se salgo in cielo, là tu sei,
se scendo negli inferi, eccoti.
8. Se prendo le ali dell'aurora
per abitare all'estremità del mare,
9. anche là mi guida la tua mano
e mi afferra la tua destra.

12. Se dico: «Almeno l'oscurità mi copra
e intorno a me sia la notte»;
13. nemmeno le tenebre per te sono oscure,
e la notte è chiara come il giorno;
per te le tenebre sono come luce.
14. Sei tu che hai creato le mie viscere
e mi hai tessuto nel seno di mia madre.
15. Ti lodo, perché mi hai fatto come un prodigio;
sono stupende le tue opere,
tu mi conosci fino in fondo.
16. Non ti erano nascoste le mie ossa quando venivo formato nel segreto,
intessuto nelle profondità della terra.
17. Ancora informe mi hanno visto i tuoi occhi
e tutto era scritto nel tuo libro;
i miei giorni erano fissati, quando ancora non ne esisteva uno.
18. Quanto profondi per me i tuoi pensieri,
quanto grande il loro numero, o Dio;
19. se li conto sono più della sabbia,
se li credo finiti, con te sono ancora.
20. Se Dio sopprimesse i peccatori!
Allontanatevi da me, uomini sanguinari.
21. Essi parlano contro di te con inganno:
contro di te insorgono con frode.
22. Non odio, forse, Signore, quelli che ti odiano
e non detesto i tuoi nemici?
23. Li detesto con odio implacabile
come se fossero miei nemici.
24. Scrutami, Dio, e conosci il mio cuore,
provami e conosci i miei pensieri:
25. vedi se percorro una via di menzogna
e guidami sulla via della vita.
26. Gloria al Padre, e al Figlio,
e allo Spirito Santo.
27. Come era nel principio e ora e sempre,
nei secoli dei secoli. Amen.
