1. Lucis Creátor óptime,
1. Sublime Creator of the light,
Lucem diérum próferens,
producing light for days and time,
Primórdiis lucis novæ
you draw the source of all the world

2. Qui mane Junctum vésperi
2. The morning joined the evening hour
Diem vocári præcipis:
by your command is named the day:
Tetrum chaos illábitur,
now dreaded night steals over us;
Audi preces cum flétibus.
in mercy heed our tears and prayers.
3. Ne mens graváta crímine,
3. Let not our soul, weighed down by faults,

be exiled from the gift of life
