Antiphona
Nos qui vívimus, benedícimus Dómino.
We who live will bless the Lord
(Ps. 113) In éxitu Israël de Ægýpto,
(Ps. 113) At the departure of Israel from Egypt,
domus Jacob de pópulo bárbaro:
the house of Jacob from a barbarous people:
2. Facta est Judǽa sanctificátio ejus,
2. Judea was made his sanctuary;
Israël potéstas ejus.
Israel was made his power.
3. Mare vidit, et fugit:
3. The sea looked, and it fled.
Jordánis convérsus est retrórsum.
The Jordan was turned back again.
4. Montes exsultavérunt ut aríetes,
4. The mountains exulted like rams,
et colles sicut agni óvium.
and the hills like lambs among the sheep.
5. Quid est tibi, mare, quod fugísti:
5. What happened to you, O sea, so that you fled,
et tu, Jordánis, quia convérsus es retrórsum?
and to you, O Jordan, so that you were turned back again?
6. Montes, exsultástis sicut aríetes,
6. What happened to you, O mountains, so that you exulted like rams,
et colles, sicut agni óvium.
and to you, O hills, so that you exulted like lambs among the sheep?
7. A fácie Dómini mota est terra,
7. Before the face of the Lord, the earth was moved,
a fácie Dei Jacob.
before the face of the God of Jacob.
8. Qui convértit petram in stagna aquárum,
8. He converted the rock into pools of water,
et rupem in fontes aquárum.
and the cliff into fountains of waters.
9. Non nobis, Dómine, non nobis:
9. Not to us, O Lord, not to us,
sed nómini tuo da glóriam.
but to your name give glory.
10. Super misericórdia tua, et veritáte tua:
10. Give glory to your mercy and your truth,
nequándo dicant gentes: Ubi est Deus eórum?
lest the Gentiles should say, “Where is their God?”
11. Deus autem noster in cælo:
11. But our God is in heaven.
ómnia quæcúmque vóluit, fecit.
All things whatsoever that he has willed, he has done.
12. Simulácra géntium argéntum, et aurum,
12. The idols of the nations are silver and gold,
ópera mánuum hóminum.
the works of the hands of men.
13. Os habent, et non loquéntur:
13. They have mouths, and do not speak;
óculos habent, et non vidébunt.
they have eyes, and do not see.
14. Aures habent, et non áudient:
14. They have ears, and do not hear;
nares habent, et non odorábunt.
they have noses, and do not smell.
15. Manus habent, et non palpábunt:
15. They have hands, and do not feel;
pedes habent, et non ambulábunt:
they have feet, and do not walk.
non clamábunt in gútture suo.
Neither will they cry out with their throat.
16. Símiles illis fiant qui fáciunt ea:
16. Let those who make them become like them,
et omnes qui confídunt in eis.
along with all who trust in them.
17. Domus Israël sperávit in Dómino:
17. The house of Israel has hoped in the Lord.
adjútor eórum et protéctor eórum est,
He is their helper and their protector.
18. Domus Aaron sperávit in Dómino:
18. The house of Aaron has hoped in the Lord.
adjútor eórum et protéctor eórum est,
He is their helper and their protector.
19. Qui timent Dóminum, speravérunt in Dómino:
19. Those who fear the Lord have hoped in the Lord.
adjútor eórum et protéctor eórum est.
He is their helper and their protector.
20. Dóminus memor fuit nostri:
20. The Lord has been mindful of us,
et benedíxit nobis:
and he has blessed us.
21. Benedíxit dómui Israël:
21. He has blessed the house of Israel.
benedíxit dómui Aaron.
He has blessed the house of Aaron.
22. Benedíxit ómnibus, qui timent Dóminum,
22. He has blessed all who fear the Lord,
pusíllis cum majóribus.
the small with the great.
23. Adjíciat Dóminus super vos:
23. May the Lord add blessings upon you:
super vos, et super fílios vestros.
upon you, and upon your sons.
24. Benedícti vos a Dómino,
24. Blessed are you by the Lord,
qui fecit cælum, et terram.
who made heaven and earth.
25. Cælum cæli Dómino:
25. The heaven of heaven is for the Lord,
terram autem dedit fíliis hóminum.
but the earth he has given to the sons of men.
26. Non mórtui laudábunt te, Dómine:
26. The dead will not praise you, Lord,
neque omnes, qui descéndunt in inférnum.
and neither will all those who descend into Hell.
27. Sed nos qui vívimus, benedícimus Dómino,
27. But we who live will bless the Lord,
ex hoc nunc et usque in sǽculum.
from this time forward, and even forever.
28. Glória Patri, et Fílio,
28. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
et Spirítui Sancto.
and to the Holy Spirit,
29. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper,
29. As it was in the beginning, is now,
et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Nos qui vívimus, benedícimus Dómino.
