Antiphona
(Ps. 128) Saepe expugnaverunt me a iuventute mea
(Ps. 128) They have often fought against me from my youth,
Dicat nunc Israel:
let Israel now say:
2. Sæpe expugnavérunt me a juventúte mea:
2. They have often fought against me from my youth,
étenim non potuérunt mihi.
yet they could not prevail over me.
3. Supra dorsum meum fabricavérunt peccatóres:
3. The sinners have made fabrications behind my back.
prolongavérunt iniquitátem suam.
They have prolonged their iniquity.
4. Dóminus justus concídit cervíces peccatórum:
4. The just Lord will cut the necks of sinners.
confundántur et convertántur retrórsum omnes, qui odérunt Sion.
Let all those who hate Zion be confounded and turned backwards.
5. Fiant sicut fœnum tectórum:
5. Let them be like grass on the rooftops,
quod priúsquam evellátur exáruit:
which withers before it can be pulled up:
6. De quo non implévit manum suam qui metit:
6. With it, he who reaps does not fill his hand
et sinum suum qui manípulos cólligit.
and he who gathers sheaves does not fill his bosom.
7. Et non dixérunt qui præteríbant: Benedíctio Dómini super vos:
7. And those who were passing by have not said to them:
benedíximus vobis in nómine Dómini.
The blessing of the Lord be upon you. We have blessed you in the name of the Lord.
8. Glória Patri, et Fílio,
8. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
et Spirítui Sancto.
and to the Holy Spirit,
9. Sicut erat in princípio, et nunc, et semper,
9. As it was in the beginning, is now,
et in sǽcula sæculórum. Amen.
and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
