Lectio
Viri fratres, nobis verbum salútis hujus missum est.
Noble brothers, among you who fear God, it is to you the Word of this salvation has been sent.
Qui enim habitábant Jerúsalem et príncipes eórum,
For those who were living in Jerusalem, and its rulers,
hunc ignorántes et voces prophetárum quæ per omne sábbatum legúntur,
heeding neither him, nor the voices of the Prophets that are read on every Sabbath,
judicántes implevérunt,
fulfilled these by judging him.
et nullam causam mortis inveniéntes petiérunt a Piláto ut interficerétur;
And although they found no case for death against him, they petitioned Pilate, so that they might put him to death.
cumque consummássent ómnia quæ de eo scripta erant,
And when they had fulfilled everything that had been written about him,
deponéntes eum de ligno posuérunt in monuménto.
taking him down from the tree, they placed him in a tomb.
Deus vero suscitávit eum a mórtuis.
Yet truly, God raised him up from the dead.
